No one wants a life without a roof over their heads and the loving care of a family. But the truth is that many people are forced to leave their homes, fend for themselves and fight predators every day of their lives on the streets. Indifference, family conflict, violence, extreme poverty, are the circumstances that have pushed more than 5 million people to the streets of Mumbai. Certain largely forgotten homeless people beg, scavenge or work in the struggle to survive. Without documentation or proof of identity, they are often missing in the official statistics.
It is hard to imagine the fate of these ‘invisible people once the COVID-19 pandemic struck and the lockdown followed. They simply vanished from the streets and from our consciousness as we took the new realities of a frightening pandemic. While we wore masks and did socially distanced, these people in the street were crammed into night shelters, government institutions, and some were put into quarantine centers.
The lives of these forgotten people were already hard but the onset of the coronavirus made them worse. Save homeless people who live in dangerous conditions and struggle with poverty and hunger daily. Vande Mataram foundation started a mission – No Homeless – to support the homeless people who find themselves at others’ mercy. Every homeless in our country deserves access to their basic rights. Support us to provide shielding and medical help homeless.
At Vande Mataram foundation, we make sure your donation does what it is supposed to – change lives. We urge you to donate online to our mission to save Mumbai’s street people from hunger and help in providing them with safe shelter, three meals of nutritious food, education to improve their lives, and healthcare. Join this mission and provide an opportunity for these people to turn into responsible adults with a chance at a future. Act now!
